Our Story

What started as a search for four or five acres turned into a dream purchase of 21.
Lovingly dubbed "The Back 20" (one acre for the house and 20 for farmin'),
our original plan for the property was to fence it in and get some cows.

We quickly changed our plans when we realized just how special it is to be a specialty crop farm.

The Beginning

As Midwestern corn-and-soybean farm kids, we didn't shy away from the property, which had been a Christmas tree farm since 1978. In fact, we excitedly asked the realtor about the established asparagus patch and if the beehive was included in the real estate transaction - enthusiastic about the homestead.

To get rid of the few remaining trees and make room for future livestock, we advertised on Facebook Marketplace for cheap the first winter we moved to the farm in 2020.

Maybe it was the fantastic late November weather.
Maybe it was an outdoor activity during the COVID pandemic.
Maybe it was our enticing price.

Whatever the reason, people came out in droves and we fell in love with the magic of the holiday market - quickly abandoning our original plans.

We placed a tree seedling order shortly after,
diving heart-first into Christmas tree farming.

and we didn't stop there.

Today

To date, we've planted just over 5 acres worth of Christmas tree seedlings and transplants - offering 6 different varieties to our future customers. We've added a HUGE shed to the property with goals to host on-farm education and agritourism events. To expand our business outside of the holiday market, we sell garden grown luffas with honey + goat milk soap.

Summer of 2025 starts another adventure: a farm stand, featuring Back 20 produce, luffas, and flowers.

...and maybe we will get cattle someday.

But for now, we're happy growing our family and our farm.
